Annual Members Meeting
Thursday, Sept. 28th at 7:00pm
Held at the Market Square Building Mark your calendar and plan on attending this important meeting that will include the election of YOUR Board Members. These are the folks who work hard to ensure you have a thriving organization.
October 6 and 7 - the Baum Opera House, 15 S. First Street, Miamisburg
This fundraising event is co-hosted by the Baum Opera House Assn. and the Miamisburg Historical Society. This year, it will be bigger than ever as a 2-day festival with music, dancing, dinner, desserts, beer, wine, and soft drinks.
Friday, October 6th the Miamisburg Historical Society and the Baum Opera House will be hosting an OktoBurg Fest fundraiser at The Baum Opera House. Friday night we will kick off festivities with the Sauerkraut Band playing polka favorites. Dinner will include German favorites catered by Bullwinkles. Lucky Star Brewery and A Taste of Wine, will have several German Fall beverage selections for the evening. The ticket price is $25 and includes dinner, dancing, and non-alcoholic beverages. No outside alcohol is permitted at this event. Dinner will be served 5:00-7:00 pm and dancing will be throughout the evening. This year we will have a 50/50 raffle and a few other fun contests. On Saturday, October 7th we will be opening our festivities for a family style event. A $2 donation at the door is requested for adults, children 14 and younger are free with an adult present. Our Saturday Family Oktoburg Fest will go from 2:00 to 10:00 pm. We have several bands lined up throughout the day. Dayton Dance Center will be here to perform as well as teach a few dances and waltzes. We will have pretzels, sausage, and other German treats. Of course Lucky Star beer and German wines selected by A Taste of Wine. A Silent Auction will go until 8:00 pm. Games and activities for the kiddies. Come out for a day of fun and help support the Miamisburg Historical Society and the Baum Opera House.

Spirit Walk - A New Event
Thursday, October 26, 6:30-7:30 pm - Hill Grove Cemetery
The first will be a “Spirit Walk” at Hill Grove Cemetery on Thursday, October 26, 6:30-7:30 pm. We’ll gather at the entrance and take a walking tour to see the gravesites and hear some stories about a few of Miamisburg’s founders and early citizens. Be sure to bring along a flashlight and a friend to keep you company!
A $5 donation will go to the Historical Society’s operating fund.
Star City Haunted Tour
Fri. & Sat., October 27 and 28 - Downtown Miamisburg
We’ll visit the dearly departed as we tour the downtown area and go into a few old buildings as well. I’m sure you know that downtown Miamisburg boasts many buildings that were built in the 1800s, including the Market Square Building and Baum Opera House.
On October 27 and 28th, the Historical Society and the Baum will host Haunted Walking Tours through the downtown area. In addition to strolling the streets, we’ll tour the inside of several of these historic buildings and hear some of the old tales that have been handed down through the decades. The Haunted Tours will begin at the Baum Opera House (15 S. First St.) and finish at the Market Square Building on Main St.
The Haunted Tours will last from 1 to 1½ hours. Friday evening tours begin at 6:00, 6:30, 7:00 and 7:30. Saturday afternoon tours begin at 4:00, 4:30, 5:00 and
Tickets $10. Ages 6-14 Free .
Veteran’s Day, Saturday, November 11, 11:00 am At Library Park
Commemorate Veteran’s Day by attending this service provided by American Legion Post 165 and the Historical Society’s Veteran’s Committee. Veteran’s Day is observed each year on November 11th at the 11th hour, which is the anniversary of the signing of the armistice, which ended World War I between the Allied Nations and Germany in 1918.
Remembrance Walk - A New Event
Saturday, November 11 (Veteran’s Day), 4:00-5:00pm at Hill Grove Cemetery
Commemorate Veteran’s Day with the Miamisburg Historical Society as we walk through Hill Grove Cemetery and learn about some of the local Veterans from past wars who are buried here. Donations Accepted - Proceeds benefit the Historical Society Operating Fund.
Holly & Ivy Gala
Friday, December 1, 7:00pm (Location to be announced)
A lively group of members and friends gather for Holiday cheer with hors d’oeuvres, sweets and spirits. We guarantee a good time, so watch for your invitation in the mail and plan to join in the Holiday fun. Price is $25 each and benefits the Society’s operating fund.
Christmas at the Tavern
Sunday, December 3, 2:00-5:00 pm - Heritage Village,
Corner of Old Main and Lock Street The Society celebrates the Holidays in 1800’s style. Music is provided by the Star City Dulcimers and a Holiday Musical Presentation
by Miamisburg High School Madrigal Singers. Of course, no Holiday gathering would be complete without snacks and hot, spiced cider to keep us warm and toasty. A free event for the community.
